In the olden days

A recent visit to Meroogal, an 1880s National Trust property in Nowra, revealed a family's resourceful way to reuse the worn carpet protecting their beautiful wooden staircase. Clearly, the family had once been wealthy, but in hard times last century they had to compromise. Solution? Turn the carpet over and paint the underside, a soft blue in this case. Brilliant!
